Lingshan resembles a soaring dragon. Its jade green peaks surge forward like a great dragon. Steep cliffs and secluded valleys compete to display strange and wondrous formations. An eagle glides earthward with its wings spread wide, while jade columns rise toward the heavens, dominating the winds. The terraced fields at the mouth of the valley are green with spring crops, and the narrow path through the clouds exudes a sense of village nostalgia. With no desire to inquire about the Way, I feasted on the mist and dew. Early one morning, I heard the distant bell of an ancient temple. During late spring of the year of Jichou, I visited Lingshan in Shangrao. Climbing the mountain, the terraced fields stretched for miles, while the mountain’s steep, towering peaks were awe-inspiring. The ancient temple deep within the mountain was vast, simple, and dignified, a place of great spiritual power. Remembering this scene upon returning to Taiwan, I painted it at Lan Art Academy. Written and painted by Chunbo, Chou Chen.
