[Inscription]
At the edge of the sea, at the end of the world. Do not lament the spring cold while seeking the Cape. In South Africa's oppressive heat, sweat dampened my collar. The strange beauty of the isolated, smoke-streaked cliffs, where waves battered the jagged promontory. Here, the cold and warm waters of two oceans meet, a page in the history of colonialism marked by sorrow. Gazing out across the boundless sky, leaning on a cane, I welcomed the wind, my hair blowing loose as I chanted verses. In early spring of the year of Jichou, I visited South Africa’s Cape of Good Hope during a diplomatic trip. Upon my return, I painted this at Lan Art Academy. Written and painted by Chunbo, Chou Chen.
